During this webinar, Cyndee Harmon, RDH, MS, and Courtney P. Rudick, RDH, MS, PhD, CHES, will emphasize the vital role of the dental team in early identification, patient education and interdisciplinary collaboration for individuals at risk for, or diagnosed with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and its progressive form, non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH). Participants will gain a deeper understanding of the association between metabolic syndrome and NAFLD and how these systemic conditions can present with oral manifestations. Through the latest evidence and clinical discussions, dentists and allied dental professionals will learn how periodontal health can influence, and be influenced by, liver function.

Drs. Edmond and Armand Bedrossian will lead a hands-on workshop focusing on the surgical and the prosthetic fundamental principles for predictable treatment planning鈥攐ffering patients immediate implant and immediate provisional prosthesis where indicated. The presenters will review bone biology and the principles of site preparation, and will discuss the immediate versus delayed implant placement and the role of the digital workflow (DWF) in executing successful treatment plans. The hands-on workshop portion will introduce participants to both the bone level as well as the tissue level BLC and the BLX implant systems with exercises for immediate as well as delayed site placements.

This new lecture course is intended for pediatric dentists and general dentists who plan to renew their pediatric sedation permits. Priyanshi Ritwik, BDS, MS, will focus on patient selection and risk assessment, the general approach to procedural sedation in pediatric dentistry, sedation monitoring, sedative drug pharmacology and recognizing and managing common sedation-related adverse events. Pediatric anatomy, physiology and pharmacokinetics are unique and necessitate discussions pertinent to desired effects as well as complications related to pediatric sedations.

Walid Nehme, DDS, MSc, PhD, will conduct a new, hands-on workshop for dental professionals involving the latest insights and techniques in endodontics. The morning session will focus on cutting-edge concepts, including root canal anatomy, advanced imaging interpretation, minimally invasive access cavity design and the latest developments in cleaning, shaping and obturation procedures. In the afternoon, participants will translate theory into practice through guided hands-on experiences designed to enhance clinical skills using extracted teeth on surgical models, plastic blocks and modern endodontic tools. This workshop will provide participants with the knowledge and hands-on experience essential for achieving improved clinical endodontic outcomes with greater efficiency and effectiveness.

Led by Adham A. Azim, BDS, DDS, this  new immersive, two-day workshop is designed to equip endodontists with the skills and knowledge necessary to perform advanced endodontic surgical procedures. The hands-on program will primarily focus on complex molar surgeries, particularly those involving difficult-to-access areas. Dr. Azim will discuss key elements to consider when planning such cases including the use of piezosurgery, creating bony windows, managing nerves and sinus involvement. The program also covers decision-making and surgical techniques for managing a variety of complex clinical scenarios, including root amputations, intentional replantation, auto-transplantation and the surgical management of cervical root resorption.

Participants will gain hands-on experience using piezoelectric surgical units to create bony windows on 3D surgical models and all procedures will be performed under a surgical operating microscope with appropriate surgical armamentarium.

The annual Dental Hygiene Symposium at the Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry will feature two expert speakers. Marianne Dryer, MEd, RDH, will present "Artificial Intelligence for Diagnosing and Classifying Periodontal Disease.鈥 Jo-Anne Jones, RDH, will present "WNL: Within Normal Limits or a Dangerous Assumption?" where she will discuss how to use clinical resources to effectively assess, manage and educate patients with oral cancer. This informative symposium is specifically designed for dental hygienists, but the topics are also relevant to dentists and other allied dental professionals. Members of the California Dental Hygienists鈥 Association will receive a $30 discount. Email cedental@pacific.edu for the CDHA code.
