Networking mixer guests inspired by billion-dollar success story
A river otter and a grey fox would be unexpected guests at a networking event, unless the event was held at CuriOdyssey in San Mateo. The unique space, which describes itself as a science playground, proved to be an ideal setting for Pacific students and alumni seeking inspiration and insight into the world of biotechnology.
The annual event hosted by Pacific鈥檚 Fellowship in Industry Program connected fellows, faculty, pharmacy students, alumni with fellow pharmaceutical industry professionals. The event showcased the strength of the program and its growing impact on the industry. Prominent biopharmaceutical companies, including BeOne, BridgeBio, Day One, Genentech, Gilead and Pill Clarity were represented.
Keynote speaker Ken Song, MD inspired students and alumni by sharing the lessons he learned leading a biotech company that was acquired for over $4 billion.

鈥淪uccess comes from 5% strategy and a staggering 95% execution,鈥� said Dr. Song.
He offered candid insights for turning vision into reality through decisive action by sharing the remarkable story of RayzeBio. During his tenure as president and CEO, the company achieved the remarkable feat of progressing from Series A to Series B financing in three months, and from initial public offering to acquisition in only 90 days. Team excellence and strategic partnerships fueled RayzeBio鈥檚 meteoric rise. Last year, they were acquired by Bristol Myers Squibb for $4.1 billion.
In a sector driven by speed and competition, Dr. Song challenged listeners to ask themselves, 鈥淐an I do this faster?鈥� Embracing efficiency as a mindset allows one to find 鈥渢he fastest route from problem to solution.鈥�
He also emphasized, 鈥渢here is no cookie-cutter formula to success,鈥� validating that diverse approaches can lead to success and breakthroughs in the pharmaceutical industry.
